Sue Shepski - Chair

Picture
"Hello, my name is Susan Shepski. My husband Mike and I have lived in this community for 33 years and have raised our family here. Our family includes Adam and Melissa and their three children Elijah, Caedmon and Rees, and Paul and Emily. We were warmly welcomed in this community by Kinsmen and Kinettes, sports teams, church groups, schools, and we have many friendships from these community groups. It truly “takes a village.” I am proud to have been a board member with the Community of Character for 15 years and I am currently the board chair. We consist of members from many areas of our community who bring abundant knowledge and skills to our team.  We have an amazing coordinator Hayley Dietz, board members, many volunteers who help with our annual Character Run, spaghetti dinner, chili lunches, business lunches, Character Week breakfast, educational workshops, and lots of community support for our events.
The purpose of the Community of Character initiative is to embrace people from all races, cultures, life experiences, and abilities. I feel the main goal of our initiative is to work toward building a sense of belonging and inclusion, and to share the message of treating people with respect and dignity.
This is truly an amazing community. I have the privilege to hang out with the youth of this community every day as a teacher at Listowel District Secondary School. Some of our board members are my past students :)  It gives me a sense of hope and optimism as our LDSS students, your children, step into adulthood and become our future. We have a bright future!"
